As reported in the <em>BBC News<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/health\/8435320.stm\">&#8220;Scientists have shown for the first time that &#8216;lifeless&#8217; prion proteins, devoid of all genetic material, can evolve just like higher forms of life.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Imagine the bio-ethical questions the White Lab Coat Guys are now quibbling over:<\/p>\n<p><em>If it contains no DNA, how can it be considered alive?<br \/>\nIf prions are alive, do we have a duty to protect the little buggers? <\/em><\/p>\n<p>And, of course the Pope has a few questions brewing in his noggin as well. <\/p>\n<p>Leave it to Science to keep things popping.
