Then the white buffalo of the American plains. And now, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/local\/gloucestershire\/hi\/people_and_places\/nature\/newsid_8272000\/8272689.stm\">from the Forests of Dean (no, not Jimmy Dean) somewhere in the wilds of Gloucestershire, comes the white buck.<\/a> And we&#8217;re not talking about Pat Boone&#8217;s infamous shoes, either. <\/p>\n<p>The white buck is actually a member of the Fallow Deer gang (<a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/local\/gloucestershire\/hi\/people_and_places\/nature\/newsid_8273000\/8273593.stm\">more pics here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Most interestingly, the deer&#8217;s &#8220;scientific name&#8221; seems straight out of a <em>Harry Pothead<\/em> movie &#8211; <em>Dama dama<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Buck that.<\/p>\n<p>posted by Mudd<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First there were the dazzling white bears of Canada.
