The White House, for instance,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/articles.washingtonpost.com\/2011-09-02\/national\/35274851_1_ground-level-ozone-burdens-and-regulatory-uncertainty-smog-standards\">overruled<\/a>\u00a0the EPA on its proposed stronger ozone and smog regulations in 2011, and last year\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/current.com\/technology\/93889210_obama-ignores-huge-dangers-in-approving-arctic-drilling-permit-for-shell.htm\">opened<\/a>\u00a0up\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomdispatch.com\/post\/175577\/bannerjee_arctic_shell_game\">the Arctic<\/a>\u00a0for oil drilling, while\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.alternet.org\/story\/150351\/biggest_energy_blunder_of_obama_years_administration_opens_new_lands_for_mining\">selling off<\/a>\u00a0vast swaths of Wyoming\u2019s Powder River Basin at <a href=\"http:\/\/grist.org\/coal\/peabody-coal-pays-u-s-taxpayers-1-11-per-ton-of-coal-sells-it-to-china-for-123\/\">bargain-basement prices<\/a> to coal companies. His State Department flubbed the global climate-change negotiations. (It\u2019s hard to remember a higher-profile diplomatic failure than the Copenhagen summit.) And now Washington rings with rumors that he\u2019ll approve the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/view\/2013\/01\/01-5\">Keystone pipeline<\/a>, which would deliver 900,000 barrels a day of the dirtiest crude oil on Earth.
