(ClimateProgress) While America Spars Over Keystone XL, A Vast Network Of Pipelines Is Quietly Being Approved

“But while critics and proponents of Keystone XL have sparred over the last few years, numerous pipelines — many of them slated to carry the same Canadian tar sands crude as Keystone — have been proposed, permitted, and even seen construction begin in the U.S. and Canada. Some rival Keystone XL in size and capacity; others, when linked up with existing and planned pipelines, would carry more oil than the 1,179-mile pipeline.”

Sketchy Andy Lewis is extreme sports’ mythic figure. But on the evening of Moore’s sudden death, a devastated Lewis shared his feelings with his 5000 facebook followers:

“Daniel Moore, I cried for you over your lifeless body last night. Gasping through tears in the beautiful fresh snow, I left you on the talus, too upset to help your body down….As the car with your crying parents and absolutely crushed girlfriend rolled away at 7am this morning… I am only left with one question. Is this really worth it?”

(USA TODAY) Third BASE jumper found dead in Zion National Park

MOAB, Utah (AP) — A BASE jumper has died in Utah’s Zion National Park, officials said Monday, marking the third death by adventurers attempting to parachute from state cliffs this year…Last month, Amber Bellows was killed there after she jumped from Mount Kinesava and her parachute failed to open. Bellows fell about 2,000 feet…Another jumper was killed Friday near Moab. Kevin A. Morroun fell about 400 feet Friday while leaping from an area known as “The Sweet Spot” above Mineral Canyon in southeast Utah.
