(from the MoabSun News) ‘Colorado River Pathway built to improve bicycle safety’

AN EXCERPT:  One half-mile elevated path will connect Lion’s Park to a one-mile stretch of asphalt path that is now in place and extends through Goose Island Campground. A second one-mile elevated path will be built alongside the highway from the north edge of Goose Island Campground to stop short of Negro Bill Canyon. The pathway was designed by Horrocks Engingeering from Salt Lake City.

The plan is not a simple one. The elevated concrete paths are built like bridges with girders and decks. Holes will need to be drilled for piers. A crane, which will take up both lanes of traffic, is needed to place the girders and decks.
