The Wilder West: Manifesto…Art by Dave Wilder

“Manifesto” Transparent watercolor, 14″x14″

This painting, featuring a turkey vulture skull above crossed monkey wrenches is respectfully dedicated to the life and writings of Edward Abbey. It’s one of a new series of paintings that presents natural and human-made objects in trompe l’oeil style, arranged to evoke symbolic motifs such as flags, emblems, sigils or, in this case, a coat of arms. This one reflects my deeply held belief that wilderness has a right to exist for its own sake and that it is worth fighting for. I will not be selling prints, but the original is currently available through my website: A portion of the proceeds will go to the Wilder International Survey Stake Removal Fund.
