The June 9th Pack Creek Fire was deeply upsetting for those of us who know and love the La Sals. I discuss the fire, and its effects, in two stories this issue:

While we waited nervously to hear that the fire was finally contained, I began flipping through my own photographs of the La Sal Mountains and Pack Creek Ranch, going back almost 50 years. And I had a chance to peruse the collection of Bill Benge’s Kodak transparencies, from the early 70s. Here is a sampling of those images…
